Summer Beauty: How To Create The Perfect Beachy Curls And Waves

Summer is an amazing time of year, but it can also be stressful when it comes to managing your hair. The humidity in Atlanta often has me looking like an extra from the Lion King, and when I attempt to straighten my hair, I end up hotter than when I started. Simply put, the more minimal the effort, the better when it comes to my locks, which is precisely why I began experimenting with different looks and tools.

Enter the curling wand - this is by far the easiest way that I have discovered to create relaxed, beachy curls and waves! And fortunately for you, one of my favorite bloggers, Courtney Kerr, has put together a simple hair tutorial on exactly how to achieve the look here → http://melb.co/CourtneyBeachyCurls

The major plus point of all of this is that a summer beach appearance not only takes less time, but it is also much more durable throughout the day. If you notice your style starting to drop, simply spritz it with your favorite texturizing spray, scrunch and go - literally zero hassle! So, now that you've got your beach waves on point, here's a little inspiration on how tot wear them...

Casual Summer Day

Beachy waves will easily take you from day-to-night, and as I mentioned before, just touch them up with a simple spritz of texturizing spray if they start to head south. Keep the top section relatively straight, and begin to curl from the mid section, keeping the bottom two inches natural. This will give you a loose wave, rather than a tight curl - ideal for a casual summer day.

Summer Soirée

The ethereal feel of a loose wave clipped to one side is currently on-trend and it is an extremely pretty (and easy) style to opt for as well. Pair it with this season's Bardot-inspired pieces and statement earrings and you'll tick several fashion boxes at once.

Again, when attempting this style, the key is to keep your waves loose. Avoid a tight ringlet or curl, and then use a clip to keep your hair over one shoulder, hiding it and spraying in place below your locks. Easy!

Simple Waves

This one is the simplest look of all and you actually don't need to do anything other than let your hair dry naturally. For most of us, this will result in general waves as it's quite unlikely that your hair generally dries poker straight. Scrunch with a little mousse or use a texturizing spray after washing your locks, and then towel dry and leave the fresh air to do the rest of the work.

Beach Hair Don't Care

While messy beach hair should be effortless, it does require the right products to get the look just right. Invest in a great texturizing spray or sea-salt product, volumizing hairspray, a dry shampoo, and of course a great curling iron. Perfection is not the point here, so use your fingers to scrunch and mess up pieces as you go. And when all else fails, the perfect beach hat will complete any look!

As you can see, beachy waves are the ideal way to avoid constant annoyance from humidity and hot weather. Straight hair never seems to stay put, and when you constantly have an up-do, you crave the chance to wear it down. Find the style that is right for you and ride that wave through the season!

Keeping in with the summer vibe, check back next week when we're going to show you how to get that golden glow without having to bake under the sun's rays.

See you then! xx-Mel
