Summer Beauty: How To Master The Natural Makeup Look

Unless you have a huge amount of time on your hands, spending hours every morning perfecting your makeup simply isn't feasible. While I would love to say that I sit there every day, pampered by a style squad who paint stunning make up looks onto my face and give me the perfect contoured appearance, you're much more likely to find me in front of my mirror trying my best to cover up every blemish possible with my trusty concealer.

Dramatic make up is all very well, but most of us just don't have the time, or the know how to pull it off. Luckily, this season is all about going completely natural! No, we're not talking about avoiding makeup altogether (don't panic!), we are talking about mastering one of the on-trend natural looks, which takes you from just woken up, to fresh faced, within a matter of minutes.

A little foundation, a slight dewy glow, a slick of natural lipgloss, and a coating of mascara - this is all you need to achieve a pretty summer look, regardless of how much time you have at your disposal. I love this look for day, whether you're heading out shopping, meeting the girls for coffee, or you're on your way to work. The other perk? It literally takes no time at all! Neutral Glam

Natural makeup does not have to be barely there, and it certainly doesn't have to be boring! You can easily glam it up without going over the top, and it all comes down to the eyes. Line your eyes with a little kohl to give simple definition, and also define the brows. The rest should be natural and light, with a neutral shade on your eyelids and lips to achieve a slight amount of drama without spending hours on the effect.

Travel Ease

Anybody else have their makeup go haywire while traveling?! Perhaps it's the change in the air and environment, but it seems as though I apply it and then after a few hours I'm left with nothing to show for my efforts. Rather than fight with my makeup from sliding off, I prefer to go natural and focus on a few key features. For me, that's my eyes and brows, but for some it may be a pop of color on the lip. Opt for a waterproof or smudge proof version of your favorite makeup and you'll get just enough definition and 'oomph' to get you through your travel day.

Vacation Glam

Vacations often mean heat, and heat doesn't bode well for makeup! For this reason, again, natural is a great go-to, and I always make sure I use a primer underneath my foundation to stop it from slipping way during those warmer summer evenings! Play up the eyes, perhaps with a subtle cat-eye flick, but keep the lips toned down and natural, with a clear swipe of lipgloss or even a lip balm.
